Information on Path Accessibility from the Ramblers Association

Writer: Bexhill RamblersBexhill Ramblers

Good morning everyone

Please see the following information which Michael Brennan (Treasure) received, and is part of the reason we pay for Associate Membership. Perhaps you will find it an interesting read, especially when you click on Apply now, which shows the process if a path is to be upgraded. I don't think they are actually asking for financial donations, but that is up to individuals.

Our Path Accessibility Fund is now open for applications. Dedicated to making sure our path network can be enjoyed by more of us, the Fund supports projects to make paths more accessible, particularly focusing on removing the barriers that prevent those with reduced mobility getting outdoors.

This is your club's chance to apply for funding to improve paths in your area.

In previous years we have funded projects that remove stiles and replace them with gaps or gates, repaired and added hand rails to ditch crossings and carried out minor surface improvements.

We are keen to fund projects in places where more people walk, and particularly on paths which people might also use to get to school, work or the local shops.

We’ll be accepting applications until 1 November. Please make sure to check out our FAQs before submitting your application. The fund is currently only open to applications from England and Wales.

Thank you so much.

With best wishes,

Nicola Fickling
